In Italy's art cities many hotels occupy listed buildings, where opening a wall or running a new duct requires permits and months of waiting. That is why plug-in nebulizers work so well: one at reception, one on the main staircase and a small one in the breakfast room, without touching ceilings or frescoes. In Venice and in ground floors close to the water, damp leaves a stale smell in corridors and storerooms, and there you start with the neutraliser.

Lake and seaside hospitality has a different rhythm. On Lake Como, in Positano, Amalfi or the Costa Smeralda, hotels open from April to October and concentrate the work in a few months, with air conditioning at full power in July and August. In Italy we sell the equipment: you pay once and it is yours. The monthly plan with the diffuser included is only available in Spain and Portugal. Purchase prices including VAT:

How much does it cost to scent a hotel in Italy?

A lobby is scented with an ORBIT (up to 600 m²) for €149.99 and a resort with ducts with a HALO (up to 800 m²) for €194.99. A small hotel often only needs a LUME and a SENSE. Prices include VAT.

Can a historic building be scented without building work?

Yes. Standalone units sit on a piece of furniture or hang on the wall and plug into a socket. No drilling or new ducts, so no building permit is needed.

How long does shipping to Italy take, and are there customs fees?

7 calendar days at most from confirmation, including islands such as Sardinia or Sicily, with email tracking. Italy is in the European Union: no customs, VAT included. Shipping costs €19.90 up to 2 kg.

Can I rent scent diffusers or pay monthly in Italy?

No. The monthly plan with equipment and fragrance is only offered in Spain and Portugal. In Italy you buy the unit and can subscribe to the fragrance for 10% less.

What do I do with the diffuser when the hotel closes for winter?

Switch it off from the app and, for a long closure, empty the reservoir so the fragrance does not sit for months. In spring you refill it and pick up the same schedule.
