Along the shore, between Cernobbio, Tremezzo, Bellagio, Menaggio and Varenna, many of the best-known hotels are 18th- and 19th-century villas: high-ceilinged salons, frescoes, marble floors and gardens running down to the water. Guests arrive expecting everything to live up to it, including the smell of the entrance hall and corridors. In a building like that nobody drills or touches the walls, so only units that plug in and sit on a piece of furniture will do.
The season runs from spring to October and many hotels close in winter. The lake brings humidity all year round, with fog in autumn, and when the hotels reopen the ground-floor rooms and basements smell closed-up. Weddings and celebrations fill the event villas from May to September, with salons going from empty to full in an afternoon. In the town of Como, by contrast, the pace is year-round: silk shops, offices, restaurants and city hotels less than an hour from Milan.

In Italy you buy the unit: you pay once and it is yours. The monthly plan with the diffuser included is only available in Spain and Portugal. Purchase prices including VAT:

How much does it cost to scent a hotel on Lake Como?
It's worked out zone by zone and you buy each unit once: 149,99 € for the ORBIT in an entrance hall or salon up to 600 m², 79,99 € for the FLOW in a corridor up to 120 m² and 72,99 € for a PULSE with neutralizer in each shared restroom, VAT included. After that you only pay for fragrance: 34,99 € for a 250 ml refill or 31,49 € a month on subscription.
Can it be used in a historic villa with frescoes?
Yes. Standalone units need no drilling, wiring or building work: they sit on a piece of furniture and plug in. Keep them away from painted walls, curtains and delicate fabrics, and set low intensities in salons with very high ceilings so the scent spreads without becoming heavy.
Does it work for weddings and events?
Yes. In the app you set the diffuser to start before the guests arrive and to raise the intensity during the event, then lower it or switch it off at the end. For a large salon, an ORBIT; if the salon has ducted air conditioning, a HALO spreads the scent with no visible units.
How long does delivery to Lake Como take, and are there customs duties?
One week at most (7 calendar days) from order confirmation, and you get the tracking number by e-mail as soon as it ships. Italy is in the European Union, so there are no customs or duties and VAT is already included in the price. Shipping costs 19,90 € per parcel up to 2 kg.
