Professional scenting in Madeira

BENDIS is a professional scenting company based in Madrid that makes its fragrances in Spain and publishes its prices. In Madeira it offers a monthly scenting plan from €29.90 + VAT, with diffuser and fragrance included, no installation and no minimum term, for hotels, quintas, holiday rentals, restaurants, spas, clinics and shops. If you'd rather buy the diffuser, you can do that too.

Madeira has no real low season. Funchal welcomes visitors all year round, with long-stay tourism in winter and cruise ships calling at the port almost every week. The Lido area and Caniço have the large hotels looking out over the Atlantic; spread across the island are the quintas, old manor houses turned into hotels, with gardens, wood and thick walls. And in Funchal, Calheta or Ponta do Sol, hundreds of holiday rental apartments change guests every few days.

The big enemy here is humidity. The climate is mild, but Atlantic air and the mists of the north coast and the higher areas mean wardrobes, sofas and ground-floor rooms pick up a closed-up, musty smell within days. If a guest walks in to a damp smell, the review is off to a bad start. That's why in Madeira we almost always start with the neutralizer in bathrooms and bedrooms, and the fragrance comes afterwards, in reception and common areas.

There are also restaurants and Madeira wine lodges in the Zona Velha and central Funchal, plus shops, clinics and offices that serve residents. The diffuser arrives configured, with the fragrance you chose, ready to plug in. No building work and no technician visit: we advise you remotely, by phone, WhatsApp or e-mail, from photos and the size of the space.

How much it costs to scent a space in Madeira

Prices are the same as in Spain and mainland Portugal, and they are public. Monthly fee excluding VAT, with diffuser and fragrance included, and the purchase price in case you prefer to keep the unit:

Space	Unit	Coverage	Monthly plan	Purchase	Approx. use
Holiday rental bathroom, with neutralizer	PULSE	Up to 7 m²	€29.90 + VAT	€72.99	50 ml/month
Quinta guest room, apartment or consulting room	SENSE	Up to 80 m²	€34.90 + VAT	€89.99	100 ml/month
Shop or wine lodge	LUME	Up to 100 m²	€37.90 + VAT	€109.99	150 ml/month
Restaurant, bar or office	FLOW	Up to 120 m²	€39.90 + VAT	€79.99	250 ml/month
Hotel lobby, quinta lounge or spa	ORBIT	Up to 600 m²	€54.90 + VAT	€149.99	300 ml/month
Hotel through the HVAC ducts	HALO	Up to 800 m²	€69.90 + VAT	€194.99	350 ml/month

A typical Madeira example: a quinta turned hotel in Funchal, with a 70 m² reception, a 200 m² lounge and two shared restrooms. A SENSE in reception, an ORBIT in the lounge and two PULSE units with neutralizer in the restrooms: €149.60 + VAT a month, all included. Volume discount from three units. Purchases (units or refills) ship to Madeira at a flat rate of €49.90 per order.

What the monthly scenting plan includes

One monthly fee per unit, excluding VAT, with everything needed for the space to smell the same every day:

Professional nebulizer. Configured for the size of the space (intensity, schedules and days of the week), ready to plug in.
Fragrance every month. From the BENDIS fragrance range, made in Spain, refilled monthly and switched whenever you need.
Neutralizer. Where there is a bad odor to remove (bathrooms, kitchen, damp), instead of covering it with fragrance.
No building work, no installation, no technician visit. The unit arrives configured. The HALO connects to your existing HVAC ducts.
No minimum term. Cancel with 30 days' notice. Volume discount from three units.

How to get started in Madeira

No building work, no technician visit and no upfront investment, in four steps:

Tell us about your space. Size, type of accommodation or business and which smell you want to create or remove. By phone (+34 911 09 70 50), WhatsApp or e-mail (info@bendis.es), ideally with photos.
Get the proposal. Based on the public price list: unit, monthly fee, estimated fragrance use and shipping to the island.
The unit arrives configured. With the fragrance you chose and 5 ml samples so you can confirm the scent in your own space. Place it and plug it in.
Fragrance arrives every month. Adjust intensity and schedules from the app, switch scents whenever you like and cancel with 30 days' notice.

Frequently asked questions about scenting in Madeira

How much does it cost to scent a hotel or a holiday rental in Madeira?

From €29.90 + VAT a month per unit, fragrance included. An apartment up to 80 m² is €34.90 + VAT a month with the SENSE, and a lobby up to 600 m² is €54.90 + VAT with the ORBIT. It is the BENDIS monthly scenting plan, what the industry calls renting.

Does it help with Madeira's damp smell?

The diffuser doesn't remove humidity from the air; that's what a dehumidifier is for. What the neutralizer does is remove the closed-up, musty smell that humidity leaves in bathrooms, wardrobes and bedrooms, instead of covering it with perfume. Once the space smells clean, the fragrance does the rest.

Can I buy the unit instead of paying a monthly fee?

Yes. From €79.99 including VAT for a space up to 120 m², paid once, and then you buy refills when you need them (€34.99 for 250 ml) or subscribe for 10 % less. Purchases ship to Madeira at a flat rate of €49.90 per order.

How much is shipping to Madeira, and are there customs duties?

Madeira is part of Portugal and the European Union, so there are no customs or duties. Purchases have a flat rate of €49.90 per order, whatever the weight; for the monthly scenting plan, we include shipping to the island in the proposal. As soon as the parcel ships, you get the tracking number by e-mail.

Can I try the fragrances before deciding?

Yes. With the first order we send 5 ml samples so you can choose the fragrance in your own space, which is where the decision really gets made. If a sample convinces you more than the one you chose, we switch it at the next refill.
