Which aroma diffuser to choose for your business, by type of premises

¿Qué es un difusor de aroma y cuál elegir? Guía completa BENDIS - BENDIS

Short answer: for a business, the aroma diffuser that works is a programmable cold air nebulizer, chosen according to the type of premises and its areas. Shops, clinics and small offices use standalone units. Hotels and buildings with ducted air conditioning can scent through the existing air circuit. And you can either buy the device or pay a monthly plan with device and fragrance included.

Commercial premises are not a big house. They open and close at set times, people come in with smells from the street, there are shared toilets and nobody on the team wants to keep refilling a device. That is why reed diffusers, candles and household ultrasonic diffusers fall short. If you want the technical comparison, it is in nebulizer vs ultrasonic diffuser for business. Here we stick to the practical side: what to install depending on what you sell.

Which aroma diffuser to install by type of business

BusinessKey areasUsual deviceKeep in mind
ShopEntrance, sales floor, fitting roomsLUME or FLOW on the floor, ORBIT if it is large, PULSE in the fitting roomA recognisable brand scent without saturating the room
RestaurantEntrance and dining room, toilets, back officeStandalone unit at the entrance and dining room, PULSE with neutraliser in toiletsA soft scent that does not compete with the food; the kitchen is neutralised, not perfumed
HotelLobby, corridors, rooms, spa, public toiletsATMOS or HALO if there are ducts; ORBIT, WAVE or NOVA if notA brand scent in common areas and more discreet scents in rooms
Clinic or practiceWaiting room, consulting rooms, toiletsSENSE in consulting rooms, LUME in the waiting roomSilence and very soft fragrances; neutralise disinfectant smell first
GymReception, training floor, changing roomsORBIT or WAVE on the floor, neutraliser in changing roomsChanging rooms with extraction and humidity: their own device
OfficeReception, open plan floor, meeting rooms, toiletsLUME or FLOW at reception, ORBIT or ATMOS on the floorLow intensity, programmed for working hours only

Shop: brand scent from the door

In retail, scent is part of the identity. It is most noticeable at the entrance and wherever customers stop. One unit on the sales floor sized to the area and a PULSE in each fitting room is usually enough. More ideas in scent for retail shops.

Restaurant: two separate lines

One line scents the entrance and dining room with something clean and light. The other neutralises toilets and back office. Mixing the two is the classic mistake. We explain it in how to make your restaurant smell good all day.

Hotel: standalone or connected to the air conditioning

This is where the decision matters most. If the building has ducted air conditioning, ATMOS (600 m²) or HALO (800 m²) connect to the supply duct and the scent comes out of every vent at once, with no devices in sight. The condition is that the air conditioning runs during the scenting schedule.

With split units or wall units there is no circuit to inject into. Then you need standalone devices: ORBIT (600 m²) is the ductless equivalent of ATMOS, and the WAVE (875 m²) and NOVA (1,600 m²) floor towers handle large lobbies with no building work. See the area by area approach in scenting a hotel area by area.

Clinic, gym and office

Clinic. Noise comes first. SENSE is the quietest in the range, at 30 dB or less, and suits consulting rooms. In the waiting room, a LUME. Before installing a device in a space open to the public, check what to look at for safety.

Gym. The training floor is scented and the changing rooms are neutralised, each with its own device. More in how a gym smells.

Office. A background scent, almost imperceptible, programmed for working hours. Reception with a room unit and the open plan floor with ORBIT, or ATMOS if there are ducts.

How a cold air nebulizer works (and why it is the standard for businesses)

  1. The device takes the fragrance undiluted, straight from the bottle.
  2. A pump pushes pressurised air through a nozzle together with the liquid.
  3. That impact breaks the fragrance into a very fine, dry particle that stays suspended in the air.

It does not wet surfaces, there is no water tank to clean and it can be programmed by day, time and intensity. Our refills are perfumery fragrances formulated for nebulisation, not essential oils, which are thicker and clog nozzles. For bathrooms, kitchens and damp areas there are three neutralisers: Aloe Vera, Cotton Fresh and Jazmín Neutral. Everything is in fragrances.

In practice, the plan is a rental designed so the business does not have to worry about anything. How many square metres each device covers

The type of business tells you which areas to treat. The square metres tell you which model. The full table, including high ceilings and when to install two devices, is in which diffuser I need for the square metres of my premises. For your home, the guide is a different one: types of aroma diffuser for the home.

What a diffuser does not do in a business

It does not purify the air, it has no therapeutic effect and it does not remove a background odour. If there is damp, rubbish or cooking smell, deal with that first. Scenting on top makes the mix worse. The method is in the guide to bad odours in businesses.

Frequently asked questions

Which aroma diffuser is best for a business?

A programmable cold air nebulizer, sized to the square metres of each area. Reed diffusers, candles and household ultrasonic diffusers cannot cope with the opening hours or the size of commercial premises.

When is it worth connecting the diffuser to the air conditioning?

When the premises have ducted air conditioning running during opening hours and you want to spread the scent across several rooms from one point. That is what ATMOS and HALO are for. With split units, a standalone device is better.

What does the monthly scenting plan include?

The device and the fragrance, from €29.90 to €94.90 + VAT per month depending on the model. There is no minimum term: just give 30 days' notice. It is available in Spain and Portugal.

Do I need building work or installation?

Standalone devices and floor towers are placed with no building work. The ducted models connect to the existing air conditioning system.

Can I use a different scent in each area?

Yes, and it is the usual approach. Each device has its own fragrance, and in toilets, changing rooms or kitchens a neutraliser is used instead of perfume.
