To compare systems you have to add up what you pay over 12 months, not the price on the box:
- Device: what each unit costs and how many you need to cover the space.

- Replacement: parts or devices that break or wear out during the year.

Cold-air nebulisation with BENDIS: real 12-month figures
A cold-air nebuliser pushes air against the fragrance and turns it into a dry mist, with no water or heat. It covers anything from a few square metres up to 1,600 m² and is scheduled by time slots, so fragrance use depends on how many hours and at what intensity it runs. There are two ways to pay for it: buy the unit and refills (in the NATURAL line, 150 ml at €24.99 and 250 ml at €29.99; for numbered fragrances and neutralisers, 150 ml at €29.99 and 250 ml at €34.99, VAT included) or sign up for the scenting subscription, with unit and fragrance included.

How to read it:
- Consumption is a guide. A 250 ml refill lasts around a month with the unit running 24 hours at high intensity, and much longer in short time slots. If your premises are open fewer hours, you'll use fewer refills.
- The subscription includes all the fragrance the unit uses each month, whatever the model. That's why on the units that use the most, WAVE and NOVA, the subscription is cheaper than buying even in the first year.
- If your company reclaims VAT, compare without it: a purchased FLOW comes to €413.12 net in the first year with numbered fragrance or neutraliser (€363.53 with the NATURAL line), compared with €478.80 for the subscription.
- When you buy, in the second year you only pay for refills. With the subscription you pay the same every month, but you don't invest in the unit, it's replaced if it fails, you can change scent whenever you want and there's no minimum term (30 days' notice).
- The subscription is only available in Spain and Portugal. Elsewhere, the option is to buy the unit and refills.
With large units, consumption depends heavily on opening hours: if you open fewer hours, the purchase cost drops and the subscription stays the same. If you like, we'll work it out with your opening hours. All other prices are in the professional scenting price index.
Maintenance adds no cost: cleaning every 3 months with isopropyl alcohol and whenever you change scent. All BENDIS units for commercial premises use cold-air nebulisation. The only one that works by ultrasound is ROAM, designed for the car.
Ultrasonic diffuser: what you pay in a year
A membrane vibrates in a water tank with a few drops of fragrance. It's cheap to buy, but in a business these costs appear:
- Several devices: the water mist loses strength within a few metres, so a commercial space needs more than one.
- Fragrance or oil: because it's diluted in water, the concentration is low and people tend to add more.
- Water: it has to be refilled often, and if it's very hard some manufacturers recommend distilled water.
- Replacement: the membrane and the device itself suffer with daily use, and replacing them is at your expense.
- Staff: refilling, cleaning the tank and switching it on every day.
Reed diffuser: what you pay in a year
A bottle with fragrance and reeds that draw it up by capillary action, with no electricity. The costs are:
- Replacement bottles and reeds: they need replacing when they run out or the reeds become saturated.
- One reed diffuser per point: it smells near the bottle, not across the whole room.
- Early replacement: intensity drops as the bottle empties, so many businesses change it before it runs out.

Automatic spray: what you pay in a year
Wall dispenser with an aerosol cartridge and a timer. Its costs:
- Dispenser: bought, or supplied on loan in exchange for buying the cartridges.
- Cartridges: the main cost, repeated all year.
- Batteries: most run on batteries that need changing.
- Refill service: if you've contracted one, it's added to the cartridges.
- One device per room: each burst covers a specific spot.
The pattern also has a cost: the burst leaves peaks and troughs of scent, so someone who walks in five minutes later hardly notices anything. In restrooms and small rooms it's still reasonable.

How to lower the annual cost with scheduling
A commercial space doesn't need the same level of scent for twelve hours straight. It pays to boost the entrance at peak hours, turn it down when the place is full (occupancy reduces perception and raises the temperature) and switch it off outside opening hours so you don't use fragrance with the shutters down. Refill consumption depends directly on the seconds of operation per day, so adjusting the schedule is the most direct way to make each refill last longer.

For WAVE and NOVA, which use a lot of fragrance, the subscription is cheaper because it includes everything the unit uses. It also avoids the upfront investment, includes replacement of the unit and can be cancelled with 30 days' notice.
Can I scent through the air conditioning and how much does it cost?
Yes, with units that connect to the ducts. ATMOS covers 600 m² (€229.99 or €64.90 + VAT per month) and HALO 800 m² (€194.99 or €69.90 + VAT per month). You need an accessible duct.
