Neutralising pet odour at home: dogs, cats and small pets

Short answer: pet smell isn't something you cover up, it's something you neutralise. Clean the source first (bed, litter tray, cage, wee stains), then treat the air with a nebuliser loaded with the BENDIS Aloe Vera neutraliser, formulated for animal odours. The refill costs from €29.99 and the pack with diffuser from €94.99 (VAT included).

Every animal smells different and needs a different fix. Here's what we recommend for yours.

Dogs: dog smell all over the house

Dog smell gets everywhere: the sofa, the rugs, their bed, the hallway after a walk. So what works here is treating the air in the whole home, not just one corner.

  • What to use: a nebuliser in the living area with the Aloe Vera neutraliser. For a flat up to 120 m², the FLOW; up to 100 m², the LUME.
  • How: on a schedule, at low intensity, in the living room or wherever the dog spends most of its time. Never pointed at its bed, food or water.

Cats: the smell is in the litter tray, not the cat

A healthy cat barely smells. What smells is where it lives: the litter tray, the scratching post, the blanket it sleeps on. So the treatment is targeted and discreet.

  • What to use: the PULSE (up to 7 m², battery powered) in the room with the litter tray, with the Aloe Vera neutraliser. If the tray is in an open area, a SENSE or a LUME in that room.
  • How: minimum intensity, the device placed high up and away from the tray and the food bowl, and the door left open so the cat can leave if anything bothers it.

Small pets: hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs

In small cages the smell comes from the bedding and the urine. Cleaning comes first: change the bedding often and wash the tray. The neutraliser helps with the smell that lingers in the room.

  • What to use: a small nebuliser with the Aloe Vera neutraliser in the room, several metres away from the cage.
  • How: minimum intensity, a ventilated room and never pointed at the cage. Small pets have very sensitive airways: if you notice any change in their behaviour, switch it off and ask your vet.

The packs include the diffuser, the neutraliser and 2 fragrance samples of 5 ml. You can change the model, colour or size in the home pack. A 250 ml refill lasts about 2 months at home with normal use, and up to 3 or 4 months if the device runs gently a few hours a day.

We don't sell spray air fresheners: we work with cold-air nebulisation, which spreads the neutraliser as dry micro-particles, with no water and no heat. If you also have strong urine smell at home, the Jasmine neutraliser is the one that handles urine best.

Good practice with animals at home

  • Always start at the lowest intensity and only turn it up if you need to.
  • Never spray or place the device on the animal, its bed, food or water.
  • Air the room every day and always leave the animal a way out.
  • With cats, puppies, older animals or pets with breathing problems, be even more careful: ask your vet and ask us for the neutraliser's safety data sheet.

Frequently asked questions

Does the neutraliser mask the smell or remove it?

It works on the molecules behind animal odour instead of putting a perfume on top. It doesn't replace cleaning: if the bed or the litter tray stays dirty, the smell comes back.

Is it safe to use a neutraliser around dogs and cats?

It's used in the air, at low intensity, in a ventilated room and away from the animal, its food and its litter tray. We don't make veterinary claims: if your pet has breathing problems, ask your vet first.

Do you have a spray for the litter tray?

No. Our neutralisers are refills for cold-air nebulising diffusers. For targeted treatment around the litter tray, the 7 m² PULSE is the device designed for small spaces.

Which diffuser do I need for a flat with a dog?

Up to 100 m², a LUME; up to 120 m², a FLOW. If the smell is concentrated in one room, putting it there is enough.

How long does a neutraliser refill last?

A 250 ml refill lasts about 2 months in a home with normal use, 1 month if the device runs 24 hours and up to 3 or 4 months at low intensity for a few hours a day.

Do you ship to my country?

Yes, we ship diffusers and refills across Europe. You'll find the rates on international shipping.
