What Size Aroma Diffuser Do You Need for Your Space, by Square Meters

Difusor de aroma BENDIS FLOW con cobertura de 120 m², ejemplo de cómo elegir el tamaño de difusor según los metros cuadrados

Choose the diffuser by the square meters of the space, not by its stated power rating. Measure the actual floor area, add margin if the ceiling is over 3 meters, and pick the unit whose coverage matches that figure without falling short or overshooting. Up to 7 m², PULSE. Up to 120 m², FLOW. Above 600 m², a duct-connected unit.

The rule is floor area, not "power"

A diffuser's stated power rating is not comparable across manufacturers. Coverage in square meters is, because that figure already accounts for microparticle output, working pressure, and diffusion pattern. Correct selection always starts from the area to be treated.

All BENDIS units use cold-air nebulization: no water, no heat. They microdiffuse the fragrance as dry particles that stay suspended in the air, leaving no moisture or residue on surfaces. The unit is cleaned every 3 months.

What happens if the unit is undersized

If coverage falls below the real floor area, the scent does not reach the zones farthest from the diffuser. The usual reaction is to raise the intensity on the timer, and that is where the waste begins: the unit consumes more fragrance per hour without gaining any real reach, because reach is set by the maximum output of the nozzle, not by the programmed duty percentage. The result is a space with scent concentrated around the unit, dead zones with no perception, and refill consumption above forecast.

What happens if you oversize

Oversizing is the most expensive mistake. A unit with coverage far above the room saturates the air: the scent stops working as a background and moves to the foreground, which puts off customers and staff. On top of that, monthly fragrance consumption is that of the large unit, not that of the small room, so you pay a higher fee and use more refills for a worse result. Turning the intensity down to minimum reduces saturation, but the cost of the unit and the fragrance is still that of the oversized model.

Surface unit or duct-connected unit

A surface unit is mounted on a wall or placed on a piece of furniture and diffuses directly into the room air. It works in defined spaces, with walls and doors, up to about 600 m²: stores, clinics, offices, gyms, and hotels treated room by room.

A duct-connected unit is fitted to the supply duct of the HVAC system and uses the installation's own airflow to distribute the fragrance through every outlet. ATMOS covers 600 m² and HALO reaches 800 m². The condition is that the HVAC system runs during scenting hours: if the system is off, there is no distribution. In exchange you get even diffusion across several rooms with a single maintenance point.

When there are no ducts and the area is very large, floor towers handle the volume with no building work: WAVE covers 875 m² and NOVA reaches 1,600 m², placed at a central point of circulation.

High ceilings and open spaces

Coverage in square meters assumes a standard ceiling height. Above 3 meters the air volume grows and the same floor area needs more output, so it is worth moving up one size or adding a second diffusion point. The same applies in open spaces with no doors, with drafts, automatic entrances, or interior courtyards, where part of the fragrance is lost before it stabilizes. In warehouses, atriums, and double-height lobbies the reference stops being the floor and becomes the volume: that is where ORBIT, WAVE, and NOVA fit, or duct distribution.

Why restrooms need their own unit

A 6 m² restroom is not scented by the unit in the adjoining room. It sits behind a door and almost always has forced extraction, which renews the air continuously and pushes out any fragrance coming in from outside. The objective is different too: in the main room you are building an olfactory identity, in the restroom you are neutralizing. That is why PULSE (7 m², 29.90 € + VAT per month) is installed as a dedicated unit in each restroom, usually with a neutralizer refill, while the brand scent is kept for common areas.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a refill bottle last?

Duration is approximate and depends on the programmed intensity, the operating hours, and the square meters of the space. As a reference, a 250 ml bottle lasts about 2 months. Natural refills cost 24.99 € (150 ml) and 29.99 € (250 ml), numbered perfumery refills 29.99 € and 34.99 €, and neutralizer refills 24.99 € and 29.99 €.

Can I install a large unit and turn the intensity down?

It works technically, but it is not efficient. You pay the fee for the large model, fragrance consumption is still higher, and any timer misconfiguration saturates the room again. Matching coverage to floor area gives a more stable result at a lower cost.

What do I do if I have several separate rooms?

Each closed room needs its own diffusion point, or a ducted installation that reaches every outlet. Adding up the square meters of separate rooms and buying a single large unit does not work, because fragrance does not pass through doors or partition walls.

Does the monthly fee include the unit and the fragrance?

Yes. The scenting fee covers the unit and the fragrance, has no minimum term (30 days' notice), and differs on that point from conventional renting. The fee service is available in Spain and Portugal only. Sales of units and refills ship to around 90 countries.

When is ATMOS or HALO worth it instead of a surface unit?

When the space is over 600 m², split across several rooms, and has ducted HVAC running during business hours. ATMOS covers 600 m² (64.90 € + VAT per month or 229.99 € VAT incl.) and HALO covers 800 m² (69.90 € + VAT per month or 194.99 € VAT incl.), both consuming 350 ml/month.
