If there is one business where the olfactory challenge is at its most extreme, it is the dog daycare. Dozens of animals in an enclosed space, continuously generating the compounds that are hardest to remove: fatty acids, amines and organic moisture.
The specific problem of dog daycares
A daycare carries an odour load that no consumer product can handle. Sprays are used up within minutes. Reed diffusers are irrelevant at that concentration. And HEPA-filter purifiers capture particles, but not the volatile organic compounds, which are the ones that smell.
It is not only a comfort issue for the staff. Owners come in twice a day to drop off and collect their dog, and they judge the facilities in those thirty seconds. Smell is the first thing they assess, and it is what they talk about with each other afterwards.
Why the smell of many dogs is different
One dog at home is already hard enough to manage. Fifteen dogs in an enclosed space is not fifteen times more intense: it is qualitatively different. The concentration of fatty acids and amines exceeds what natural ventilation can shift, and it settles into textiles, beds and flooring.
Why fragrance alone only makes things worse
This is the most common mistake. Adding a fragrance on top of an animal smell does not cover it: it mixes with it and the result is perceived as worse than the original smell. What is needed here is neutralisation, which is something else: compounds formulated to react with those specific molecules and turn them into odourless ones.
How it is set up
- One or two nebulizers in the areas with the highest concentration of animals, sized by square metres.
- A neutralising refill made specifically for pets, not a fragrance.
- Scheduled operation during opening hours.
- Low intensity: a dog's sense of smell is far more sensitive than ours, so you always work below the level you would use in premises for people.
- At reception, where the owner is and the animal is not, a clean, soft note can be added.
A 250 ml refill covers roughly one month of continuous use in spaces of up to 100 m².
What it does not solve
A neutraliser greatly reduces the perceived smell, but it does not replace cleaning and it does not fix undersized ventilation. If the beds and textiles are saturated, they still have to be washed. What the system does is stop the air from building up between one clean and the next.
What it costs
On rental, from 29.90€/month + VAT per unit, with the refill included and monthly replenishment. No lock-in and no upfront investment. The unit arrives configured and goes up in 5 minutes.
If you would like to try it first, we will send you samples so you can see the effect in your own premises.
