As of this month BENDIS is a member of AECOC, the Spanish association of manufacturers and distributors, which also acts as the GS1 organisation in Spain: the body that manages the barcodes carried by products all over the world.
It is a small step for the customer and a fairly big one behind the scenes. Here is what it means.
What AECOC is and why we joined
AECOC brings together manufacturers and distributors of consumer goods in Spain and is the body that assigns GS1 codes (the well known EANs) to Spanish companies. Every product that goes through a shelf, a warehouse or a marketplace needs one.
Until now our diffusers and refills were sold on bendis.es and on Amazon, where it was not required. As we open up to more channels, the code stops being optional.
We could have bought single codes from a reseller, which is what many people do. We preferred to have our own prefix and do it properly from the start: a second hand code stays registered under another company's name and sooner or later causes problems.
What changes for you
If you buy on bendis.es, nothing. The same aroma diffusers, the same fragrances, the same prices and the same shipping.
What changes is where you will be able to find us:
- More places to buy. With our own code we can list the catalogue on marketplaces and with distributors that would not take us before.
- Product data sheets with real data. The GS1 standard requires declaring measurements, weights and composition for every reference. We had already done that work and now it is published.
- Visibility for businesses. BENDIS appears in AECOC TRADE, the directory where distributors and large accounts look for suppliers. For a hotel or a restaurant group, finding us there is a sign that there is a real company behind it and not a middleman.
What does not change
We still sell direct, with no middlemen inflating the price. That has been the point of BENDIS from the start: scenting a space in Spain cost far more than it should, and we are still one of the few who publish the rate on the website.
The scenting subscription for businesses stays the same: from €29.90 + VAT per month, with the diffuser and the fragrance included, no lock in and cancellation with 30 days' notice.
Why we are telling you
Because professional scenting in Spain is a fairly opaque sector. Plenty of companies sell through sales reps, with long contracts and prices that appear nowhere.
We do the opposite: public prices, contracts with no lock in and now also the standards of the industry, the same ones the big consumer brands use.
